I am in the market to buy a Chihuahua. Any particular advice you could give?

I am in Perth, Western Australia. Just incase anyone in this region happens to have one for sale. Otherwise advice on average price or temperament of dog would be appreciated.I am in the market to buy a Chihuahua. Any particular advice you could give?
When searching for a puppy on-line, make sure you get lots of pictures. I am a breeder myself,

( http://RGVpups.spaces.live.com ) but i get lots of people from all over the world copying my pictures, and scamming people! from this website in particular:

http://www.epupz.co.uk/

the user with this email: chihuahuabitches2000@yahoo.co.uk

is scamming people LEFT AND RIGHT! I found out that he was copying my pictures, and i decided I would write to him pretending I was interested in a puppy.. As soon as I told him I was very interested in buying a chihuahua, but first I wanted to see more pictures, guess what he emailed me back??

';Send me a digital camera for that.I am not forcing you to have her ok.

Bill';

Lesson Learned.... Always ask for more pictures, and make sure to have something like a stick of gum, or a pen in the picture, so you can know that this person is not just some scammer that wants to take all your money! And in return you get no puppy :(I am in the market to buy a Chihuahua. Any particular advice you could give?
They are very agressive and protective - a high percent become ankle-biters or finger nippers - definatly NOT recommend for homes with small children. Some are difficult to housebreak and you have the frequest 'chocolate-cheetoes'.
NEVER buy on-line OR from a petstore!!

ONLY DIRECTLY from a REPUTABLE BREEDER!!

DON'T fall the ';teacup'; CRAP!!
Buy a real dog not a rug rat
they are only good for mopping the floors with stick a broom handle up its *** lol
I would advise going to a bookstore or library and reading ';Chihuahuas for Dummies.'; It's a wonderful book that will answer a lot of your questions. You can also check AKC.org under Breeds to find out more on Chihuahuas. Also, there are several ';Yahoo Groups'; Chihuahua groups with knowledgable people who can answer questions, and you can share info and photos. I live in the southeastern United States, and most Chihuahuas around here go for $150-$350. Try not to buy from a pet store if at all possible (sometimes a lot of their dogs come from puppy mills), instead try to find one that has been home raised and pad trained, and will offer a health guarantee. They should be at least 8-10 weeks old before leaving their mother, but some unscrupulous people like to sell them too soon. They are wonderful little dogs with great personalities, I wouldn't take anything for mine. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Chihuahuas are prized for their devotion and personality. Their alertness, intelligence and size make them easily adaptable to a variety of environments, including the city and small apartments, and they often live fifteen years or more. While Chihuahuas are often thought of as high-strung and fragile, correct training and socialization can result in an outstanding companion animal.

Chihuahuas are not well-suited as small children's pets because of their size and physical fragility. However, many Chihuahuas focus their devotion on one person, becoming overly jealous of that person's human relationships. However, this can be mitigated by thorough socialization. Chihuahuas also tend to have a ';clannish'; nature, often preferring the companionship of other Chihuahuas over other dogs. On the other hand, Chihuahuas seem to have no concept of their own size, and may fearlessly confront larger animals, which can result in injury.

Many Chihuahuas are sensitive to the cold due to their small body size. Chihuahua owners often dress their dogs in sweaters or coats in cold weather.
If they were treated right then they are good dogs. My mom had one that we got from a good friend and she was well trained. She would follow us without a leash and she was a friendly dog. It depends where you buy the dog at and how the person is asking for the dog.
I actually own a chihuahua and she was free. The owner had been out of town and couldn't keep the male from the female and she ended up getting pregnant so she just gave the puppies away to get rid of them.

Chihuahua's are very protective though. When I got mine (she was 2 months) I lived in a house with 4 people, and she hated everyone in the house except me. She still to this day will not have anything to do with anyone except for me. They're very small, and sometimes have ';big-dog syndrome'; thinking that they are bigger than they really are. But they get scared really easily, and when small dogs get scared they do one of two things, hide, or bite. Make sure that you don't have small children around if you are looking to get a chihuahua. And also get it when it's small so that it knows nothing except the environment that it is in when you get it.

You have to train them to be social though. They are not naturally social animals. I have four dogs, the female chihuahua, 2 female boxer/lab mixes, and a male border collie and she loves them all to death. They all get along well, and play well to gether, but even though she's the second youngest, and the smallest, she rules them all. They all listen to her because they know she'll bite them in the butt if they don't! haha. They make excellent pets though. Just take them to training and they should be fine!
take the dog to an attiude class
try to find out where your nearest chihuahua club is, and they will tell you when their next show is. if you can go along to that, you can see for yourself whats involved and there wiil be no shortage of advice from friendly dog handlers!! you'll have fun too!!. they will be delighted to answer all your questions.... hope i've helped.. bye.......... and listen to GitEmGang he's right. !!
My wife and I have had the little dogs for over 35 years ( not the same one )and we love them. Each one of them is different.I had 8 stiches in my lip from a 3 lbs. chihuahua at the hospital they had a field day it had to be reported to the sheriffs office, and I just happen to know the officer that came to the hospital and he knew the dog.I steal have not lived that one down

What's the best advice you could give someone who desperately wants to change jobs this year?

I know there's a financial crisis which is why I'm asking this now! What's the best advice you could give someone who desperately wants to change jobs this year?
You know, you are going to find it difficult to find a job and you're obviously aware of that, but I don't agree with those who are telling you not to move on now in case of redundancies being made at the place you go to and them getting rid of the new people first.

I worked in an industry which was one of the very first to be hit by job losses. I had been with my employer for two and a half years, which was a lot by their standards as it was a young company with high staff turnover, and I wanted to leave as I wasn't enjoying it but I thought I should stay as it was unlikely due to my length of service that I'd be let go, and at least I'd be entitled to redundancy pay if I was. Well, I was let go even though others who had been there a shorter time were kept, and I got statutory redundancy pay which is such a pittance that it really wasn't worth having. So, don't worry about that!

I would say that there isn't much that you can do that would be different from when times aren't so tough. I would say don't leave your job without one to go to, but no sensible person would *ever* do that anyway. Also, don't be tempted to take on contract work no matter how well paid in case you can't find another job when your contract is done.

Depending on what you do, look for work in sectors where jobs are more stable, like government or charity organisations. However, these jobs don't pay so well as those in the private sector. What's the best advice you could give someone who desperately wants to change jobs this year?
Jobs seem to getting scarcer as the days go by, it seems. If you already have employment, the best thing to do is search for another job, but don't give up the job you have now before you find something else. If you are in the UK and intend to claim benefits while in between jobs, beware. You may be sanctioned if you just give up your present job. There is work out there, but most is poorly paid and probably beneath you skills wise. Have you considered self employment or asking your manager if there is an opportunity to do some training paid for by the company? Good luck.x
Hi

I have been in a similar position, i recently took up a new job as i was made redundant however this was in a call centre based environment ( i had never worked in one before) and absoloutly hated it, i quit before i found a new job and have been extremely hurt financially.

I guess youv gta ask your self EXACTLY WHY you want a new job? are you just bored your role? do you not like the company?

If it is something like you just want a change, can you get this ';change'; within your current employers?

honestly do not underestimate how severely the current financial climate has effected recruitment, there are very few employers who are recruiting and they know this also so are only offering lower salaries.

however if the situation you are in is something that cannot be resolved in your current organisation or you are simply unhappy there its better to make the jump and start seriously looking for a job NOW! end of the day if your unhappy there is only so long u will stick with the situation. 2009 in general will, i suspect, be a miserable year financially however if there is a decent time to be searching for a new job it would be either now in the new year or at the beginning of the financial year in april

best of luck
Don't ..

1) For the first 13 weeks, they can fire you for no reason what-so-ever and you have no legal come-back .. if the new Company runs into problems, they can 'let you go' without even thinking .. I've heard of people who have been 'made redundant' before they even started at the new place .. and then found their old place had no wish to take them back ..

2) Any Redundancy payment will depend on the number of years at that company .. less than one year typically pays ZERO ...

3) Many places operate a ''last in first out' redundancy policy (because this will minimise their Redundancy costs) .. your name will be at the top of their list ...

Finally, just in case it applies to you, you are only entitled to paid Maternity Leave after working for the same employer for at least 2 years .. less than 2 years and you get zero from the Company (you will still get Government SMP, but that's about 拢60 a week).
Stay put! You could not have picked a worse year - even the government have now accepted that there will be widespread redundancies over the next 12 months. Now is the time to dig your toes in where you are and hope that you will not be one of the ones walking out of the door with a little bit of redundancy money and no job prospects.
Hey,

Check this website I found! It鈥檚 called Money Mcgrew. Basically it鈥檚 a review site for online money making systems! The guys who made it have filtered out all the online scams out there and have selected 3 sites that can actually make you A LOT OF MONEY! I first found this site 3 months ago and have only gotten round to using the site they recommend the highest! I have made nearly 5 grand already!! 拢5000!! Each month my profits get better! It takes a little work at first to get things set up but it's well worth it, after that it's minimal effort! Awesome! I work full time as a chef also which proves how little effort it takes once you set things up as I have little free time to myself! I just can't wait to get round to trying the other 2 sites! Do yourself a favour and at least check out the site!

Do you have any advice for running for Student Council Class Representative?

I am running as are 9 other people, but there are only four spaces. The teacher read the guidelines (Or qualifications) to run. I was the synonym for those qualifications. But I am still worried that I may not win. I would like some suggestions for running. Nothing mean, Please. Thanks in advance!Do you have any advice for running for Student Council Class Representative?
Honestly the #1 key to winning a student election is to mobilize your friends to vote and convience others to vote for you. This is especially true if everyone isn't required to vote. Most students are very apathetic so you really need to target those without much of an opinion. Flirting helps out a lot too. lol.Do you have any advice for running for Student Council Class Representative?
Wear something that shows alot of leg and breast. Also something tight around the hips. You will be sure to get the male vote.
Make little pass outs on CardStock paper and/or stickers (label paper). Give them to everyone - especially the people who dont know you - and talk to them about why you want to represent them.
Staple some little flags with your name on it to tootsie roll pops and pass them out.

  • Do you have any advice for an American student preparing to study abroad in Edinburgh Scotland?

I've never been to Scotland before. All I know is that its a beautiful, traditional, and yet diverse country.Do you have any advice for an American student preparing to study abroad in Edinburgh Scotland?
Willow Tea House has great desserts.

A friend of my daughter started vet school in Glasgow a year ago.Do you have any advice for an American student preparing to study abroad in Edinburgh Scotland?
Have a wonderful adventure! Good Luck!
get a translation guide. they have a few different words for things...
Please don't take it the wrong way, but why study in a country you don't know much about? Sure Scotland is a beautiful country %26amp; we pride ourselves on our traditions %26amp; diversity here, but there is more to Scotland than this. Scotland can be as good or as bad a country as anywhere else on the planet.
Have fun. Be safe. Spend as much free time as you have going around and getting to know Scotland.
Have fun! See the sights, get a kilt, and eat some tatties with every meal! Yes, some words are different and occasionally the accent gets so heavy it's hard to understand them, but mostly it isn't that bad at all. Good luck!

What percentage of people do you think are actually seeking sound advice when asking Yahoo questions?

I have tried to give well thought out answers to help people solve their problems only to have them choose the least intellegent answer from the pack. Its not that I think mine are the very best but it looks like in many cases the asker never intended to choose a decent answer. Are you guys running into this? Am I mistaken and this forum is largely for pure fun? Maybe this forum should be divided in two parts? Your thoughts and observations will be appreciated. What percentage of people do you think are actually seeking sound advice when asking Yahoo questions?
I know its flipping annoying isn't it? I spend a long time thinking out helpful answers and then a best answer is picked when it is totally stupid. I think this form is a mix of people trying to help (like you and me) and people who are just taking the p**s.

Still we keep trying don't we?! If I help at least one person then it is worth it.What percentage of people do you think are actually seeking sound advice when asking Yahoo questions?
i have noticed that too. i think more than half the people are just killing time.
I would think it's rather a small percentage, most questions can be answered easily with a search engine.

I think most people just want to post for fun, get opinions etc.
About 1.5% of the questions actually seem to have serious or pertinent intent to anything. The forum seems to be what it is by whom participates. To me most apparently serious questions are usually someones agenda and most of the over 50% questions and answers are just playing around waste of time below the second grade level of competence. Recommendation: Since it easy to waste time here be careful, because your time is worth allot more than just to be trivialized and your painstaking answers to be spat and stomped on like you are an idiot. Good luck with Yahoo! answers.

Can you offer any advice on moving to Chicago?

Hi - I am a young professional female moving to Chicago from the east coast. I will be working downtown. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Specifically - I'd like to know if I will need a car, what area's I should look into / avoid, how I can find stellar roommates!

Thanks. Can you offer any advice on moving to Chicago?
Hi i am also in the collar counties. Choose a reasonable walking distance to ur work. Like if you work downtown mostly you will choose to live on LSD (Lake Shore Drive). Trust me don't buy anything in Chicago! Sales tax 10.5%, Parking stickers, and finally the traffic. The areas that are nice is Lake Front ,Lincoln Park, and Hyde Park. Those are nice places to like but pricey. So I will suggest go to the collar counties. It the collar counties are nice such as Dupage, Will, Lake, and Kane counties. I will suggest Dupage since that is one of the richest counties in the United States. If you live in the collar counties i will suggest a car. If in Chicago don't get a car since of the price of gas. It is over 4 dollars. Just take the CTA or just walk. Trust me Chicago is a nice city. Remember take caution of the south side. Welcome to Chicago! Can you offer any advice on moving to Chicago?
Welcome to Chicago. It's a great city for young professionals. Even though you're working downtown, you may still want a car depending on which neighborhood you decide to live in. Some have more amenities around them than others, so having a car can make your life a lot easier on the weekends sometimes.

Check out the Chicago Reader for apartment listings. When I moved to the city, I used a service called the Apartment People which was great. You basically tell them what you're looking for and they will take you out and show you available rentals in their database.

As for where to live, Lakeview and Lincoln Park tend to be the most popular with young professionals. I'd also check out Andersonville, which is a little further north and a little less expensive. If you want to be really close to downtown, the West Loop and South Loop are good choices. If you're kind of artsy or funky, you'd like Bucktown and Wicker Park.

There's a website called LiveHereChicago.com that has a lot of good information about moving to Chicago, neighborhoods, if you need a car, etc. You should check it out.
downtown your best bet is the goldcoast, its really expensive but you can find something ok and thats where everything is. stay away from the west and south sides. north sides great as well. you really wont need a car because theres public transportation everywhere and you can walk to everything. lincoln park even sounds good. its reasonable and a pretty sweet area. good luck.
Rooomates are hit or miss. You might want to find a month to month rent and not bring all your stuff out yet and maybe try to meet some people at work who may be looking for a roomate.

As for areas you could live in the city, you could also live in the burbs and take the train which is what I do.
You don't NEED a car, but it comes in handy. First off, will you have a placde to park it? That is, does the place where you will be staying have a garage or ample street parking? That is important. I mean, you could park it on the street, but that takes a lot of effort, driving around looking for an empty space, feeding the parking meter if you have to (they usually have to be paid up until 9 p.m. in most place), moving the car early in the morning if you parked in front of a meter overnight, moving your car off the street on street cleaning days, etc. Lots of stuff to consider. And then, as others have said, you have to have a license plate, a state license sticker and a city sticker. The state sticker and the city sticker will both run you more $70. If you have an out of state sticker or plates that are valid, you don't have to worry about the city stuff, But if your out of state sticker expires, they'll start piling the parking ticekts on there. Parking tickets can range from $25 and up and if you get three or more, they can slap a boot on your car. Then you have to pay to remove the boot, pay for whatever tickets you've piled up, pay the towing charge (if they tow your car before you pay to get the boot off) and pay for each day it's in the pound. Trust me, that can add up to A LOT. Oh, and you have to have insurance.

That being said, a car can still be handy. I have a car and other than the yearly city and state stickers, I just pay for insurance (Ok, as well as gas and the other regular up keep). I know when to move my car on street cleaning days, make sure my meter doesn't run out and make sure I move it in the morning before I go to work if it's parked in front of a meter. I have the option of indoor parking where I live and I'm thinking of that (it's an extra $100 a month), but as of now I'm fine.

The car comes in handy when you want to do things like go to the grocery store (if you have to go several blocks it's a pain in the a** to drag five or six bags back to your place in those plastic bags, especially in freezing winter!), when you have to go all the way across town and you know that you won't be home until late and the thought of riding a bus or the el train all the way back makes you ill, if you occasionally want to take a long drive on a nice summer weekend down Lake Shore Drive or a quick trip to a place like the Botanic Gardens in Glencoe; not really far away, but far enough away where taking a bus is a hassel; or picking up friends from the airport, train station etc.

There is another option if you need a car. We have a car sharing program here called iGo. It's sort of like car rental. There are spots around the city where iGo cars are stored. You put in a request for a car for a certain time and go pick it up. You set the amount of time you'll need it ahead of time. If you find you might need it longer, you can call and request extra time. It's convenient, but I personally like having my own car when I need it for as long as I need it.

Anyway, I guess it's up to you. Like I said, you don't need a car, but it can come in handy.

As far as areas, you're probably going to get steered into the Lakeview/Lincoln Park area. It's jammed with ';young professionals';, but I would advice you to explore a little further into areas like Edgewater and Andersonville, as well as Ravenswood, Roscoe Village and the St. Ben's area. They are a little further away from downtown but not hard to get there.

Can't really help you with roommates. Never had one.

How much do you advice to buy these cars?

    1. Toyota Rav4 '08

    2. Toyota Highlander '08

    3. Toyota Venza '09

Assuming you have $2000 down and a fairly good credit. In other words, how much will you finance and not feel cheated. Or how much will you buy cash and not feel cheated.

Thanks for your adviceHow much do you advice to buy these cars?
you need to first research kbb.com to see the blue book on the 08 models and the 09 Venza, negotiate, negotiate! Dealers are looking to sell, sell right now...it's the buyer's market.

with regards to some unbiased advice, i found a good website that hits on private financing or dealer financing and some negotiation tips. check it out, hope it helps!

What is the worst advice your mother gave you?

What is the worst advice from your own mother you've received? What is the worst advice your mother gave you?
My mother wasn't very open about sex, infact, my birds and the bees talk consisted of ';you know how babies are made don't you? He puts his ';thing'; in her ';thing';,'; - and there you have it - sex education in a nutshell. Marvellous! What is the worst advice your mother gave you?
I agree with Blue Eyes. My mother used to tell me to walk away and I grew up avoiding conflict at all costs and never learned how to stand up for myself. It affects me to this day but has gotten a lot better because I joined the military and gained a lot of confidence in myself and my own abilities.
I don't know where to start..

(This isn't the bad advice, just to the other answers) I always had the advice if someone punch me, to fight back. Later if someone is about to hit you, you swing first.

I don't know where to start though, parents usually don't give to much ';good advice';.
Honestly its how to discipline. Disciplining techniques vary a little or a lot from person to person. How she would discipline my daughter, I NEVER would. I know spanking was ok back in the day but I will not hit my kid, I use the time out strategy and that works for me. This and other minial discipling techniques that I just dont like. And it gets on my nerves when she tells me how the food I feed her is soooo bad compared to her ';from scratch'; homemade cooking. All I can say is whatever. She had her chance to be a parent, now it's mine.
';He's much to little to be drinking out of a sippy cup'; My son at 5 months who was breast fed, she gave him a bottle behind my back. He got so hooked I finally let him cry it out at 28 months.
I honestly can't think of any at the moment. My mom gives awesome advice. I'm still a teen, but even when I'm a parent I don't think she'll second guess me or give me bad advice. She's great.
    well once in highschool I had a boyfriend hit me so I told her I was going to dump him and she told me ';you'll regret that';
Stay away from sex and drugs.
Take the Bears and the points. Lost big on that one. Thanks mom!
'when some one starts a fight with you, walk away'
blue eyes got it right on!

That is what my mom would tell me, but it never taught me to stand up for myself.

What is love to you and what is one piece of advice you can give for relationships?

I am doing a project for psychology and I need the following information: 1 - What is love (to you) 2 - What is one piece of advice you can give for a relationship? I need this information from each of the following age groups so please state which you apply to: (14-19) (20-29) (30-55) (55+). In addition, if you wouldn't mind stating your gender, that would benefit my project as well. This information be kept anonymous. Thanks! What is love to you and what is one piece of advice you can give for relationships?
i am 14-19 and i am a male. love to me is something that bonds you with another person. you cant buy it or anything like that. Love is a state when you just feel like doing anything for a person. some advice i would give is that the most important thing in a relationship is trust. What is love to you and what is one piece of advice you can give for relationships?
    1. As I've never been in love, I'll take this from what I think it is, or should be. Having a feeling that everything is OK in the world, even if it's not, you have someone you can always depend on and they won't judge you, will listen, be loyal. Unlike some though, I don't think there is one person out there for everyone. I just think some are fortunate to find someone they fit well with. I myself don't believe I have someone out there.

    2. Piece of advice? Don't rush into something just for the fun of it. Take time to get to know one another. Don't be jealous. Jealousy is a horrible thing. Be loyal and trustful. You can't base a relationship off of lies. And most importantly, don't take each other for granted because you never know when it could all be over.

I am female, and in the age group, 20-29.
If you feel that sinking feeling coming on that means your relationship is on the rocks, now may be a good time to re-examine your relationship with your loved one. There are several steps you can take to put you and your partner back on the road to recovery.

[edit] StepsDecide if it is worth it. It is a sad fact about life, but some relationships may happen to be too far gone to save. Therefore, take some time to really think about the relationship. Find out the real cause of the conflict or breakup. Is it your fault or your partner's fault? If you are in an abusive relationship, physically or emotionally, it may be best to leave and find a fresh start. If not, you must be willing to take on the following steps with a passion. If at the end of the day you still think that the relationship is worth saving, then go all out to save it.

Pinpoint the problem. It is hard to fix a relationship when you do not know what went wrong. Talk to your partner to see if they are willing to try a problem-solving method known as ';Plus Delta';. If he or she is willing, take some quiet time out of your day where you two can do the following:

Each person needs a piece of paper folded length-wise into thirds.

Label the first column ';plus';, the second column ';minus';, and the third column ';delta';.

    In the plus column, each of you must write several things that you personally find to be good in your relationship. Ex. ';our walks in the park'; or ';the way we wake each other up when we have a bad dream';

In the minus column, individually write what you each think are some negative aspects of your relationship. Ex. ';how we resort to screaming when angry'; or ';our lack of communication during arguments';.

Delta is a term used in math and science that means ';change in';. You should use this column to identify specific changes that you wish to make in your relationship. This can mean doing less of one thing or doing more of another thing. Ex. ';more cuddle time while watching T.V.';or ';planning special dinner dates'; or ';more daily communication';.

Share your thoughts. It is important that these thoughts are not shared in an angry or argumentative way. You should hold each other's hand while sharing your thoughts or cuddle up together. It may feel awkward to do this if you have been fighting a lot lately, but it can make a difference.

Listen. When your partner is talking, do not interrupt them to ';counter'; what they said or to defend yourself. Keep in mind that if they wrote something down under the minus column, it is because it is truly hurting or worrying them. Whether their feelings seem rational or not, it is important to respect them.

Take action. Try to identify some of the most important problems on each other's list and find a way to fix the situation. For example, if communication was a big problem, make it a point to talk to each other for twenty minutes each day without the T.V., radio, or computer on.

Maintain your progress. Be sure to apologize for hurting each other's feelings and repeat the process as often as needed.

[edit] TipsOften the best way to fix problems is to not verbalise it but just do what you know will help. That is, don't approach your partner and say ';We have problems, let's discuss and sort it out.'; Just make an effort first without saying so. People often feel more upset when they have to face the fact that the two of you have been having problems.

Showing affection and love only helps.

After the first ';Plus Delta'; exercise, it may be more convenient to try the method verbally. Just remember to remain respectful.

If you repeat the exercise on paper, you can put the old papers into a binder to look at them later as a memento to your progress.

You can use this method to repair relationships with informal co-workers, friends, and family members. You can, of course, leave out the physical contact and replace with just a quite, restful environment.

Agree to keep your ';Plus Delta'; exercises private.

[edit] WarningsNever force anyone to try something that they do not want to try.

This method may not work on all types of relationships.

The other party may not be ready or willing to save the relationship.

  • Do you have any advice on how to stop possessive aggressiveness?

    American Cocker

    Male

    14 months old

    Neutered

    Graduated obedience course

This is a totally new behavior. I have seen it no more then 2 or 3 times but I do want to stop it right now. If he is chewing on a bone or if he found something outside like a pinecone he will growl and charge if a dog tries to smell it (he won't bite of fight but his warning is impressive). He doesn't do that to any humans and not to every dogs either, only to certain dogs.Do you have any advice on how to stop possessive aggressiveness?
If he doesn't do it to humans and is only giving a showy display, I wouldn't worry about it. If there are other dogs around, pick up all the bones or high value toys. If it's over a pine cone at the dog park, the other dogs will just walk away and ignore him, and it shouldn't be a problem. It could be a problem if he steals the ball of another dog that also doesn't like to share his stuff, though. If you have any other questions, remember you can always call your trainer who should know how to help you and knows both you and your dog.Do you have any advice on how to stop possessive aggressiveness?
We had a female that did that. The best choice is to take away all bones and toys for a bit. since he does not do it to ALL humans and dogs you still need to stop it no matter how small or large the behaviour is. you should be able to take a bone or toy at any time from your dog with no hesitation. if you do go to grab the toy and he growls pat him on the nose and say in a stern voice 'No!' this just takes training and patience

How do you graciously turn down advice?

Let's say you receive advice from someone who really cares, and the advice is based on that person's strongly held beliefs and their field of expertise.

You do not agree with the advice - in fact you are completely opposed to it and consider it a load of crock - but you cannot say this to the person. Explaining why you do not agree would entail telling the person that you hold their beliefs in disregard.

How do you graciously turn down the advice without insulting the person and their profession?

Also, assume that the person will KNOW if you do not follow their advice. How do you graciously turn down advice?
Tough because you do not want to ruffle anyones feathers especially when they really do care for you.

so here is what I would do, thank them graciously and let them know that you are going to take it under advisement and consider what is best to do.

When they find out and if they should confront you as to why you chose the other way, explain that you thought about it carefully and for you that this was the best way to go.How do you graciously turn down advice?
Just politely thank them for their advice and concern. Tell them that it gives you another view of the issue and you will consider what they've said. You don't have to tell them that you consider it rubbish. They will feel like they've gotten you to see their views as important.

When you decide to go in a different direction they shouldn't bring it up at all. If they do, just tell them that you considered many things and made what you felt was the best decision over all.
At the time the advice is given, simply say , '; I'll think about what you have said before I make my decision';. Then make your decision. If they come back at you, well, that is rude and you'd be within your rights to say that you have to live your life your own way. You might also, BEFORE they are able to give advice, state that you have already decided what you are going to do , and you will let them know after the fact how it comes out. And change the subject.
    Believe it or not, body language is more important here than what you say. If you are speaking to this person face to face, you should look them in the eye and put as much honesty in your eyes as possible, and then say: ';Thank you so much, I'm going to think about what you said.';

And it's not a lie! You will think about what they said, but that leaves no opening for taking the advice. Your tone of voice is critically important if you are not face to face with them. The same words can work but using a really thoughtful sounding tone can go miles in the way of making someone feel as if their 2 cents are accepted.
Can you be sincerely grateful that they care enough to offer the advice? If so, thank them for that caring with few enough details that they can take it as an overall appreciation.

If I can't be sincerely grateful that they care (often compulsive advice givers care more about being heard than the person they are advising), I thank them for their OPINION and promise to give it all DUE consideration. Worry about the rest when it happens.
I say put on your big girl pants and deal with it.

Being an adult, I don't feel a need to explain or defend my decisions to others, it is my right. My best advice to you is to NOT solicit advice from this person in the future since you know it is just going to cause trouble for you.
You listen to what the person has to say, then remark that you will ';take it under advisement'; and then not follow their advice, that's the polite way at least.
    Simply say, ';Thank you for your advise. I value your opinion.';

Can you give me Business tax advice, don't know where to start?

If I set up a small business, how will I know what Tax to pay? What is the difference between VAT and business Tax. The government (UK) website is very confusing. Any simple advice would be appreciated. Can you give me Business tax advice, don't know where to start?
You will lose out unless you have an Accountant. I keep saying this to people and cannot understand why anyone with a limited knowledge on this subject would try to muddle through. Your Accountant will save you more than his fee. There are allowances for working from home, there are legalities to be considered when invoicing, there are lots of things that can be deducted from your tax, there is NI to take into account - an Accountant will explain all these to you and make sure that you get the maximum allowances that you can.Can you give me Business tax advice, don't know where to start?
What is the difference between VAT and business Tax?

OK...so you will sell stuff to your customers (hopefully!), and when you give them their bill, you will add a ';Value-Added Tax'; to the price and charge them that, too....this tax you are simply ';collecting on behalf of the Inland Revenue';, you'll keep a record of your total sales, and every quarter you'll pass along to the tax office the money you have collected (minus a very tiny 'allowance' you get to keep for doing that)....that's the VAT.

Business tax, on the other hand, is what you will pay on your profits; if you spend a thousand pounds on goods then resell them for two thousand pounds you would pay business tax on a thousand pounds. More likely, though, you will also deduct the costs of travel, advertising, rent, office expenses, etc., etc., and end up only making a real profit of two hundred pounds, so you'll pay business tax on that.

Even though they cost money, it's well worth using a tax accountant to help you set this all up %26amp; do it right...running your own business may be the only way left in Britain to get rich without winning the Lottery!

How do you start a small business if you have a good idea, any advice?

This has to be the most popular question on Answers. Have you checked the archives for past suggestions??? I usually suggest to people that they go for free counseling with the local SBA or Cose (Council of Small Enterprises). Check your local phone book for the numbers. SBA is Small Business Administration. One of the best starts is with a library to get a few books on writing a business plan. It's amazing how a business plan will help with getting financing but even if you don't need financing, a business plan can help you determine your costs and needs and help you target the best customers, address your competition, find your break even point, and just keep yourself on track. Your good idea may be a GREAT idea once you refine it. My motto is, ';don't wait for your ship to come in ... swim out to meet it.'; Make that phone call to COSE or SBA before the idea cools down. I wish you the very best of luck in your endeavor!!!How do you start a small business if you have a good idea, any advice?
i do, start a restuarant where people can drive up and eat in their cars, and the waitresses are topless and only wearing thongs when they serve the food. it will be very popular. How do you start a small business if you have a good idea, any advice?
It really depends on how small you want to start and what it is that you are selling. You might want to go here to get an idea as to how you can start out small (to give you time to build up your funds before you go out and start incurring major expenses)

I have actually had some pretty nice results with this:

    http://www.mittenstate.ws

Go there, enter in your information so you can see the video, and it explains it all from there. I can walk you through the process step by step if needed just to make sure you are successful. (Please keep in mind; this is NOT a get rich quick scheme.) In my opinion, the best thing about this is that it doesn鈥檛 require a high startup investment. (Considering you can start for free). I definitely recommend test driving it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Hope This Helps and Good Luck!
The worse part but very important is if money will be enough to support the firsts times. And If there are a goof number of client for your product.麓Good luck.
I would like to make you a Business offer:

I welcome all Stay-at-home-Moms, people who are good at social networking or even regular Net surfers, to team up with me and get me clients, for a share in my fee.

I am an Online Alternative Health Care professional, a Specialist in treating chronic diseases and all types of Stress disorders.

I live and work from India and am an Allopathic MD Doctor by training.

Please write in for further details, if you would like to consider this business offer.
It helps to have lots of money, but the best place to start is the Small Business Administration, or SBA. They do require a sound multi year business plan before they caugh up any money.
Find a name for your biz. Prepare a nice plan and put it on the paper. Register your business. Some agencies or attorneys, cpa's help you for a cost.

Then advertise and offer your biz services.

The best, I recommend to you is to go to Score.org if in US, and find the chapter nearby you and talk to them. They are a group of retired entrepreneurs now ready to help the budding.

    All the best.
i don't know how but you can ask a company that can help you. The company is named SCORE they can really help and the pople that work for that company have been in business for a very long time so they really know their stuff.
First off your going to need a purpose for your business. What are you going to do or sell?

A good starting point is would be picking something that you enjoy doing. If your into computers. Maybe doing repairs or web design. Maybe you have some sort of hobby that can lead to something. Woodworking, Auto Repair, Sewing, etc.

I have a friend and shortly after he got out of high school he started a construction business. He does home remodeling, roofing and what not. He is making a nice chunk of change doing this. Also another buddy loved hunting %26amp; fishing. He thought it would be a great idea buying a sport shop. This one backfired on him. All the time he use to be doing his favorite activites he was now stuck behind the counter waiting on the sportsmen going out. So keep that in mind too. Running your own business can take up a lot of your time.

As mentioned using a hobby skill can take you far. Look at the Yankee Candle Company. It started out with a 16 year old kid making candle for his gift for his Mom. Now 30 years later, he's making over 80 million candles a year.

But keep in mind there is a lot more than just running a small business. there is insurance, licenses, taxes, etc.
The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal %26amp; Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Research, research, research 鈥?this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

Starting a Profitable Home Based Internet Business

    By: Alan Ocab

This article can answer some of your question. You may use this web site for further research.

    Good Luck.
A good way to get things out there is the internet. If you make an appealing website that displays your products or services well, it can be very profitable. Make sure that you advertise your stuff so as to appeal to your customers- think about what they need or want and show them that your products will be useful to them. Also, just talking with other business owners can be very helpful.
I would recommend that you write a business plan and have it looked over by a business mentor. It will help you see whether your business idea is feasible or not and sort out whether you are serious or not.

This is what I did when I started my business. It took at least 6 weeks of research but it made me realize that not doing it is one of the primary reasons why 90% of small businesses go to the wall within 2 years.

  • Is it ok to sell legal advice online? Do you have to pay tax or is it a hobby?

Can I get into trouble for selling legal advice online? I am qualified. Am I allowed to go around posting on different sites and charging people? I would especially like to hear from other people who do similar things. ThanksIs it ok to sell legal advice online? Do you have to pay tax or is it a hobby?
In the US hobby income of $400 or less is not reported. Anything over that is considered income. Is it ok to sell legal advice online? Do you have to pay tax or is it a hobby?
Just what do you mean by ';qualified';. Qualified to give legal advice? Do you have a legal degree? If not, you cannot be giving out legal advice online or otherwise without a law degree. As far as any income is concerned, IRS Code Section 61 defines income from any and all sources so it must be reported to the IRS on your tax return.

There is nothing inherently wrong with what your suggesting but you should investigate an licensing requirements as well as potential liability for any possible bad advice you may provide. This could be a serious problem.
As a lawyer, I will answer that only lawyers can sell legal advice, and even then can only sell it in states in which they are licensed by that state's bar association or supreme court. I can't say for every state, but in most states there is no sales tax on legal advice; but everything a lawyer earns is taxed as income one way or another.
If you earned big amount of money, I think the revenue officer will run after you.

How can you get free legal advice?

I am in a bad situation with my ex and my soon to be child (due in a month). Everyone advises me to get a lawer, but I can't afford one. I can barely afford gas, food, and shelter. How do I go about getting legal advice/representation without money? How can you get free legal advice?
Check with the bar association for your state. Many times it will list attorneys willing to work pro bono or for a sliding fee. Also check womens advocacy groups as they will sometimes have attorneys available or be able to help with those expenses. How can you get free legal advice?
All attorneys do a certain amount of work ';pro bono'; or without charging. Most states have free legal assistance available to those who can't pay. If you need such in your area, call up any lawyer in the phone book, and ask who provides such services in your area. They'll tell you free of charge where you can get such services.
You didn't say what kind of bad situation you are in. There are hot lines for abuse located in the phone book. Go to your local Church, or any bigger church (Catholic Charities, etc.). They can give you help, or at least advise you on what to do or who to call.
there is something called legal aid in canada, i dont know where you live and what you options are.

call your courthouse, or a lawyer and ask them.

What tips of advice do you have on trying to conceive for a woman who's been told she can never produce kids?

Did any doctors or experts help you out? Was it successful? What advice did they give you? What did they tell you? Do you know what? I did NOT know that there was such an AMAZING amount of women in this world who have trouble conceiving a baby. I feel alone here. What tips of advice do you have on trying to conceive for a woman who's been told she can never produce kids?
Do not give up. There is a really large number of people who have difficulty conceiving. I am learning this now that I am having difficulty myself. I actually have 3 aquaintences who are in the same situation as myself. And we are all healthy young women, who just can't seem to conceive. Anyway, don't feel alone. Don't ever give up. Doctors are just people, and they don't know everything. In the end, The Good Lord is the one who makes these choices, and have faith He will come through for you (and me) I work with a woman who had in vitro 7 years ago and had twins. The doctors told her it would never happen naturally for her. This year she had a beautiful healthy baby girl- the natural way, without even ';trying';. It's people like that who give me hope that it will happen for me. Keep your chin up!What tips of advice do you have on trying to conceive for a woman who's been told she can never produce kids?
It depends on WHY she can't have kids. If she's missing a uterus, then yeah, it's probably not possible. But if it's unexplained infertility I would tell her not to give up and see a fertility specialist.

    Good luck.
i say don't give up because i was told too that i would never be able to get pregnant. which i have had 2 miscarraiges and i was very sad but at the same time it gave me hope. i can concieve. don't worry God knows your heart and if you want a baby you will get your baby. just don't give up that faith that you will concieve. my aunt was told she would never be able to have any children ever in her life. she was very sad and depressed. but 3 children later she realized that if you want it God will give it to you. don't give up!lots of baby dust your way and mine!
You are going to have your own baby soon, have faith in the Lord in respective of whatever they have diagnonised about you, just be positive and put your trust in God, it is going to happen when you least expected but on one condition, DON'T BE STRESS OUT. We will definitely rejoice with you.

    Good luck.
like wat many ppl say.. when you stop trying too hard.. it will come.. Have Faith!

Any tips or advice you can give for first-time job interview?
There's a wide range of questions that the interviewer may select from. Here are some of the unexpected questions:

You may be asked to provide examples of your integrity:

    * ';Tell me of a time you had to act responsibly.';

    * ';What goals have you accomplished?';

    * ';How do you handle difficult situations? Provide an example.';

Any tips or advice you can give for first-time job interview?
I just had my first interview too and I was really nervous about the questions but it's MORE important to show your personality and be likable and clean and nice looking than giving the best answers.

Has anyone vacationed in Belize? Any websites, vacation packages and advice you can give?

I'd love to go, but is there an economical way to do it for a family of 4?Has anyone vacationed in Belize? Any websites, vacation packages and advice you can give?
Yes! Belize was fantastic. I went last summer with my teenage son. We went on a budget, stayed 2 weeks and had a great time. Our favorite place was staying in a little inland town near the Guatemalan border called San Ignacio. We stayed at a fantastic place called Martha's Guest House which was was spacious, very affordable ($65 US night) and very nice. Martha's had a nice vibe and a total Belizian feel and located in town so close to nightlife, bars restaurants ect. Also a good location to check out some local attractions and Mayan sites. A day trip to Barton's Creek Cave would be strongly advised. Ask David to take you. He is located across from the fruit and vegetable market and is a cool rasta who will show your family a great time and not rush you a bit. Check out the website for Martha's Guesthouse and make reservations in advance. We went to Guatemala from San Ignacio which is a must if your interested in ancient Maya culture. Inland is much cheaper than the coast, but we stayed in a few different places, all traveled to by public bus which is very, very cheap and a lot of fun! We also stayed on one of the quieter, more economical caye islands called Caye Cualker. Again about $60-70 a night but I can't remember the name. Caye Caulker was a pretty little island but too quiet for us. We went out with some local fisherman who took us snorkeling to the reef. All they wanted was for us to bring a few beers, a few dollars for gas and a spliff. Great Deal! Next time we will stay on Ambergris Caye which is more expensive but has more going on. We spent the last 2 nights in Belize City at the Princess Hotel and Casino ($100 a night) because we wanted to be closer to the airport and see the city before we left. No problems in Belize City, but when compared to Kingston, Jamaica, I felt Belize City was a bit more rough. Security guards in front of the hotel carried machine guns which gave me mixed feelings. Anyway, we had a great time and will definitely go back when we find a good airfare deal. Please go, you will not regret it and it can be very affordable if you do not need luxurious accommodations and don't mind traveling around by bus. Also, take the water taxi to the caye islands. Much cheaper than flying and also fun. Don't do a packaged deal because then you are locked in and you may want to stay a day longer in one place or visit another place you hadn't even planned on. Have a great time!Has anyone vacationed in Belize? Any websites, vacation packages and advice you can give?
Can't give you any info on vacation packages since I visited a Belizean national down there who was my own personal tour guide, but I can relay some lessons. I hope they prove useful.

To visit Tikal in Guatamala, be prepared for an extremely bumpy ride in a microbus. You'll be approached by locals that will give you a guided tour. It's worth it, although I did get a little nervous when he led me back to the parking lot off the beaten path with not a soul in sight, but all's well that ends well.

Make sure you have something to carry all your Belizean dollar coins. You'll end up with a lot of them. If you decide to donate to a beggar in Belize City, be discreet when dropping those loud dollars into his can. It can be rather unnerving to see dozens of others step out of the shadows and stride briskly toward you to share in your generosity. Probably harmless, but unnerving nonetheless.

Stay on the coast and visit the interior, not the other way around and take a bus, what with the chickens and other assorted animals, it's a rather unforgetable experience.

Rio Frio cave is interesting as is Hidden Valley Falls. Don't miss either. If you can afford it, FLY to Ambergris Caye instead of taking the speedboat. It's a long and bumpy ride otherwise.

Belizeans are a kind and gracious people and appreciate it in return. Doing so will assure a safe and enjoyable vacation.
Yes. Very nice. Hotel wise, I don't know as I cruised there but loved it. Look for private tours and do your research for private tours of cave tubing for example (very fun). Good luck and Have Fun!

Does resume writing advice just make you feel more inadequate?

Examples of resumes always enumerate at least 3 outstanding items, but most people just can't list them which is why they need help with their resumes in the first place.

For example, if you weren't able to get an internship and were turned down for volunteer work for lack of appropriate experience, or you weren't the captain of your college football team or president of the business club or school, etc.? Or you didn't save the last company a million dollars by discovering an accounting error or something?Does resume writing advice just make you feel more inadequate?
I'm sorry that they are making you feel inadequate. My guess is you are a new graduate, and resume helping advice on the web, and in print seems to leave out that part of the readership. They(authors of the advice) just aren't speaking to you is all.

I hope the website below can help.

In the meantime, don't worry about how outstanding your accomplishments are or aren't. You are young and employers don't expect you to be Superman just quite yet. Put your mediocre accomplishments down on your resume, like you were a member of the business club. You don't have to be President!

I always laugh because people lie on their resumes, and there are usually 60 people Mayor of Phoenix, all at the same time! Hey there has to be Indians to every chief! Mediocre accomplishments make you look well honest, and that's a good trait to have in an employee! Also being a follower is just as important as being a leader!

Feeling better all ready aren't you?

Would you take advice about medical problems from anyone other than a doctor?

I've noticed ppl ask specific advice for medical issues when they haven't consulted a doctor. I find this peculiar. I'm not talking about what to do for symptoms. Sometimes, ppl seem to want a diagnosis. Would you take this advice knowing that ppl may not be educated enough to answer? Why?Would you take advice about medical problems from anyone other than a doctor?
It would depend on the problem I had wrong, how serious it was if I would post it here or not. Sometimes people just want reassurance to find what others think from people that went through something similiar they want to mentally feel better I think. I'm an Ask-The-Expert on lymphedema and am very familiar with circulatory problems and also a disabled due to cancer, pharmacy asst so I can answer alot of questions based on my experience tho I'm not a doctor, I always tell people to go to the dr if it's something that seems like they need medical attention.

I think alot of people are scared of going to the dr and they just want to know what might be wrong before they go, like a reassurance thing. Like the woman who asked if a breast lump could be cancer, she's scared she found it and wants to hear of things it could be other than cancer but the bottom line is she needs to see the doctor to be sure but I think by posting her question she feels better because some will say it's a cyst, some hormonal, some benign tumor, and then others breast cancer so she finds out some things it could be to ease her mind before she goes.

the bottom line is tho, we don't know the people who answer, but the person asking is taking a risk if they rely just on answers and don't go to the doctor.Would you take advice about medical problems from anyone other than a doctor?
I wouldn't be stupid enough to even ask such a question as that here. Never!

I think people sometimes just want to talk about their problems here, somewhere to vent, maybe feel sorry for themselves or look for others who share similar problems. I sure hope they don't take the advice!

So, to answer your question, no, I would not because to solve medical problems you must talk indepth with a doctor, in person, one on one. After doing that you decide what to do with the advice he or she gives you.
I would probably take it into consideration, but definitely talk to a doc. Especially if it was someone I trusted, I would listen to what they said, they may have heard of it before or looked it up before. But, of course, discussing with a certified doctor is the best way to go.
I think anyone who asks the specific questions wants someone to either alleviate there fears or want to have an idea of what's wrong with them before going to the doctor.Or they just need someone to tell them that they need to seek professional help. I read a lot of them every day. You have to see the answers and make a judgment.....at least I hope people look at it like that.
It is not a good idea at all to take medical advice from anyone who is not educated in the field. Doctors may not always have the right answer immediately; and considering the years of education and experience they've got behind them that alone should scare the pants off you if you consider advice from someone who has neither.

Doctors see a myriad of illnesses; and take action on them every day. They have the training (and its tough training), the expertise, and the resources to deal with medical problems. No one else does.

You have one body; and most of it has only enough organs to perform the function they were made for. Any number of actions, neglect, and medications can destroy any number of those organs. See the doctor. Its a little expensive at times and a little bit of a nuiscance, but just imagine if you lost your kidneys, your liver, your lungs or your brain function just because you didn't want to deal with it.
I think it's kind of dumb to ask for a diagnosis online. I understand sometimes a doctor apointment is expensive and you may not want to go if it's nothing serious but if your peeing or pooping blood or something i'd def see a doctor for something like that.
people like to have answers and have a name for what's wrong with them, and will believe anyone who seems to have knowledge or experience with a similar issue, especially if the person states this with a confident tone. you'd be amazed at what you can make people believe if you say it like you know what you're talking about.

i see patients all the time who come in convinced they have X disease and need Y treatment or medication because someone they knew had it or they heard about it on TV. co-workers and friends tell them with such conviction that they will tell me flat out i am wrong and threaten to sue if i don't confirm what some layperson has told them. often they have something else (or nothing at all). many completely different disease processes have similar symptoms, so people without formal training often let their own experience color their opinions.

it's real easy to think you can diagnose something if you saw it on an episode of ';house';, but honestly patients rarely present with the collection of obvious symptoms that are portrayed in that show or even the medical reality shows.

bottom line: take all advice from non-medical profesisonals with a grain of salt.
The last time I went to a doctor he charged me a week's pay for five minutes of his time, ignored the obvious problem and wanted me to see his buddy, an even more expensive specialist, for a totally unrelated imaginary disease.
Never take medical advice from anyone except a doctor that you go to as a patient.

Many illnesses, diseases, etc are unique, have various symptoms, etc which make only medical practitioners capable of diagnosing the problem a necessity.

People who ask for and get medical advice in this venue need one specific medical practitioner, a shrink -
Doctors know allot but they are only human, the medical training a doctor has is never 100% and they are trained by other human beings. But listening to peoples personal experiences is a great way to learn new ideas and information. More than a few times I found taking a doctors advice to be worse than listening to my own common sense. I like to listen to any information I can get then I use my own knowledge to decided what is best, sometimes the doctors advice is the best choice, sometimes it can be from another average person. Allot of the time doctors will aether tell you to use such and such drug, or say you need surgery. I am a person who prefers a natural solution to a health problem and try to do all I can to keep healthy, I am proud to say I have never needed drugs in my life. Drugs can often cause more harm then good.......
I think it's a sign of how broken our health care system is. People don't want to go to the doctor because it's expensive, it's time consuming, and they are concerned about the quality of care they'll get there. At least the advice here is free!

Is there any advice you want to give me before i clean all 3 of my domestic drains?

    I.e Preventation from blocking again.

ALWAYS drink half a bottle of gin before facing horrible tasks - it won't make them any easier to handle - but you'll look forward to them coming round again! Is there any advice you want to give me before i clean all 3 of my domestic drains?
once a month dry around the plugs in you sink etc, pour down some bicarb of soda then wash down with white vinegar......watch it clean... prevents blocking, smells and is great fun to watch..... try it, i do mine all the time....you wont believe how good it is...good luck and let me know how you get on...

Only advice I can give is hold your nose :)

Oh and prehaps be a bit more careful what you put down them next time.
Save yourself the hassle, call Dynorod - they're good and they give a guarantee
Call a plumber. Don't poison yourself with the fumes
A Friend of mine is a plumber and warned me the danger's of putting anything down the drains to clean them, especially the chemicals you buy on the shelf (Mr Muscle etc) because all these will do is congeal at the bottom of your wavin pipe, and before all you people start accusing plumbers of just saying this so they can get the work believe me they don't like being called out to unblock drains. I'd agree with calling Dyno Rod or if your not afraid of the smell and the shite unscrew the big plastic nut under the u-bend and start cleaning. Don't follow the advice of mixing anything and watching it evaporate your shite cause your only asking for long term trouble.
wear a clothes pin on your nose.
Put some gloves on. If it really keeps blocking, you might be better to get someone to shove a drain rod through.

    Good luck.

  • Does the bad advice about drinking that gets chosen as best answer amaze you also?

I'm amazed and disgusted almost daily around here. The stupid or downright wrong answers being chosen over the helpful, accurate and correct ones for best answer, the ';How do I get a fake ID?'; or ';How can I buy booze?'; questions that don't get deleted, the drug questions, the ';I'm drunk, hehehe...'; questions, etc.

If it weren't for the few people that are actually looking for help, and the few of us that actually put some effort into our answers, I probably wouldn't be here anymore. I don't even bother opening up probably 80% of the questions in this category anymore, there's no point in even wasting my time with them.Does the bad advice about drinking that gets chosen as best answer amaze you also?
Scan this section, you see bad/wrong ';advice'; all the time. Vodka is still made from potatoes. Tequila has a worm in it. A ten year old bottle of Jack will be stronger then one new from a store. Etc.

In some ways, I am amazed that people can really be that dumb. On the other hand, at least there is a place now where we can ';enlighten'; those that need it. Perhaps if the truth is told often enough the false beliefs will pass away.Does the bad advice about drinking that gets chosen as best answer amaze you also?
People amaze me everyday all day lol
Yeah. There's a lot of bad information about drinking.

Many people just learn things from movies or mainstream media, which is sometimes total BS.

Some just ask questions to reinforce their (often false) beliefs and not really to learn the correct answer, so don't take it personally.

    Cheers.
I'm partly amazed and partly reinforced in my cynicism. I guess part of what keeps me answering is to give myself an excuse to find new answers to questions I don't already know the answer to, and to try to help out those who appear to have a genuine interest.

I, too, tune out the crap like ';how much of ... does it take to make me drunk'; or ';how long before I can pass a drug test'; ...and the list goes on.

...not to mention all the questions about alchol, alcohal, alcahole, etc.

    OY!
Yes, lets all become alcohols and die of alcohol poisoning. You really need to lighten up. Nobody loves to drink me than myself. Learn how to understand sarcasm.
maybe the moron can't do the math ....24 ounces of alcohol in a six pack, what difference does it make how much water.
It's subjective. You think the answer is poor, but the asker liked it.

How do you control the children you babyst? And any advice on starrting a daycare?

I babysit a 2 year old potty training boy and a 4 year old girl. They are my second cousins and they both used to love me. But lately, the girl is getting very bossy and always says ';your not my boss'; and ';Abby i dont like you'; but then 10 minutes later she'll tell me she loves me and she wants to do stuff with me. Is it just a stage or am i doing something wrong? Also, the boy is usually pretty good but he wants to be so independant. Is there anyway i can hold him back while letting him go? Like he wants to use ';big boy'; scissors but i tell him no because he still wears a ';babies'; diaper. I also want to start a daycare when in about 4 years any advice on that? I try to keep the kids i babysit on a scedule involving learning time and crafts before lunch and afterwards they get free play and sometimes a field trip.

Any answers given are appreciated! How do you control the children you babyst? And any advice on starrting a daycare?
owning a daycare is a huge responsibility. You have tofind a place that will fill all of the requirements and regulations. There are a ton of them. You should have an idea of some kids you could have in your daycare. You cant just start a daycare. There are a lot of things that have to take place. You have to have a license to do it and all of your clearances. I worked at a daycare that a friend of mine owned and it is a lot of work and it is very time consuming. Plan on spending at least 12 hours at the daycare with the kids for awhile. Being open from 6am until 6pm is a very good idea. Good Luck!!

You'll need a bathroom with steps for the smaller kids. You have to wear gloves when you change the kids. Dont serve lunch it makes things a lot easier if the parents pack the lunches. Also the parents provide their childs diapers and wipes. Swim diapers also are provided by the parents. The kids need at least 1 extra set of clothes at the daycare. electric plugs have to be covered. No broken toys. No sharp edges. small toys have to be at least 2 inches by 2 inches. Especially for the small children. A lot of books... Kids love books. Fenced in yard. Dont have a cement play ground or bark... too many injuries. Make sure the staff actually gets along. Your staff has to have cpr training, first aid, fire safety, criminal clearance, and child abuse clearance. Also have the parents provide sleeping mats for the older kids and a pack and play for babies. Locks on cabinets so kids cant get into them. Only rated G movies cause some parents are real anal about pg movies. Sing songs... Oh! Bubbles. Kids love bubbles. race tracks are a big hit or train tracks. doll houses.. OK I am sorry if this went on too long I was trying to tell u everything I could think of!How do you control the children you babyst? And any advice on starrting a daycare?
I do daycare- 4 yr old girl-- its most likely the age-- nothing you are doing wrong. As for starting a daycare-- yeah, having a schedule is best -- set rules.... and stick with them -- (no jumping on the couch- no balls inside- use your quiet voices indoors- (so you don't have kids screaming constantly).....

stick with rules -- whatever they may be for you.
email me at ladysosureone@yahoo.com i had 3 daycare for 5 yrs but to tired to give all the needed info this eve ty sandy
lots of activities are good and out door play as far as these children they are related to you they are going to test you to see if they get away with it

How do you get rid of muscle cramps and any advice on running a marathon?

ive got cramps on my thighs how do u get rid of them fast? How do you get rid of muscle cramps and any advice on running a marathon?
You get muscle cramps when running and drinking water. Either eat some foods with salt eg crackers after drinking water or drink gatorade. Also stretch b4 you runHow do you get rid of muscle cramps and any advice on running a marathon?
Increase you dietary potassium intake and take calcium-magnesium pills 3 times daily. Stay well hydrated. rest the muscles; stretch well before running. Optomize your diet.
I think the cramps you are experiencing are a result of doing too much too soon. If you are a new runner, the cramps you are experiencing are probably your body's way of telling you to slow down as well as the lactate forming. The more you run, the better your body will become in processing lactic acid. If you were getting side-stitches, I'd agree with the other answerer about watching how much fluid you are consuming.

Be sure you do some stretching before AND after you run. You don't have to do a whole lot, but just enough to get loose.

Also consider slowing your pace until you develop a little more experience in running. If you start to get thigh cramps during a run, back off on the intensity and if need be, do a bit of stretching.

After running cramps can be prevented by potassium (bananas) as well as proper hydration.

There are a plenty of websites and magazines dedicated to marathon training. Consider picking up a copy of Runners World or Running Times. In just about every other issue they have a marathon training plan. Here's a good website with a training plan: http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/mar鈥?/a>

Would someone give me some advice on how you go about giving a relative power of attorney?

I am a older person who does not see herself getting married in the future. So I want to appoint my niece as the one to take care of burial expenses and such other affairs.Would someone give me some advice on how you go about giving a relative power of attorney?
You can always write a will.In this you can clearly explain what your wishes are.Obviously discuss this with your niece.

It would also be advisable to write an ';Enduring power of attorney';. This would give her the legal right to manage your affairs if you became incapable of doing so through illness or age

Do these things NOW while you are able. They always can be changed if your circumstances alter in the futureWould someone give me some advice on how you go about giving a relative power of attorney?
Contact a lawyer, and he can draw up legal papers for your wishes. Thats how its done!!
    ....
Get your lawyer to help you write out a will and then the power of attorney. He can give you legal advice to make it iron clad and no one can challenge it. My sister works for a lawyer and you ought to here about the messes she sees all the time because things weren't done right and the relatives fought over who did what and got what. Do it right and then you can die knowing it will be done they way you want.
Make an appointment to see a solicitor/lawyer. They will do it for you and it isn't expensive. They will give you the paper work for your niece to sign and you just send it back to the solicitor/lawyer. Your niece must be aware of this. Doing it this way, there are no problems.
A Power of Attorney is a document that is only valid while you, the giver of the Power, is alive. It is so another person can manage your financial affairs. If you want it to continue even if you lose your mental faculties, then a solicitor needs to witness your signature and complete a declaration that they explained the effect of the Power to you.

So really you need to see a solicitor to have one prepared.

If what you are wanting to do is to have your niece arrange your funeral/burial, then really you should be appointing her as your executor under your will, which is a different document altogether. Hope this assists.
There are numerous forms available online. You would need to fill them out and then have them notarized by a notary public.
The best and probably only legal way is to establish a trust! This must be done through an attorney. The good news,,it's not all that expensive! Best to you! ;-)=
    See an attorney!

What makes you think your advice is worthwhile?

First off, I'm not being a smart aleck.

I am wondering what's your opinion on why you think your advice is worth giving someone else.

It is that you read alot, your life experiences, etc???

    ****No lame answers please.

i.e. Cause I know everything. What makes you think your advice is worthwhile?
(I don't know that it is worthwhile. I'm sure many others are better at it. )

Frequently, people assume that I can help them. I think it's my empathetic face. When I was young, people would come up to me in bus stops and tell me about their problems and their difficult lives. In school, friends would turn to me for support. Later, co-workers and others would ask for advice. Eventually, I just gave up and obtained a Masters in social work.

What's this all about? What makes you think your advice is worthwhile?
What makes me thing my advice is worthwhile?

What makes you think you're qualified to question my answers?

And i.e. - NO ONE knows everything, so you're a liar right there.

My only reason for being here is to help those who are honestly seeking help - although of course, once in a while, I see a question so ridiculously funny I have to answer it. But for you to think you are qualified to question people's ability to answer other people's questions only points out your own feelings of inadequacy.
I feel that I have had a lot of life experiences. I have also had doctoral training in psychology.
first of all, i only answer questions that i feel i have some real insight to...

second, even if i didn't give the answer the asker was looking for/ wasn't right, at least i'm putting in my two cents and giving the asker more to choose from or at least think about

Do you believe for whatever advice you get from Yahoo Answer?

I have once asked: ';how to get rid a bad smell from my leather chair?'; and one of the answerer told me to scrub it hard with bleach? Is that true?

My common sense smell something bad about that...

Do you think that is real advice?Do you believe for whatever advice you get from Yahoo Answer?
That doesn't sound like a wise or genuine answer. I don't know the answer to the question you asked before...perhaps you could use google to help you find an answer.

As for answers given here...I answer a lot of questions concerning a variety of subjects. The answers I give are ones that are helpful. There are people, like my husband and myself on Answers who are here to help people find solutions or help with their problems.

Many of the questions I answer already have answers given and many of those answers are too short, incomplete, or people who are not at all helpful. Some of the answers I've seen are downright rude and/or stupid.Do you believe for whatever advice you get from Yahoo Answer?
I dont believe everything that people say on here, I just like to read how dumb people can be. Some advise does make sense, but others are rediculous. Like putting bleach on leather, do you want to bleach the color of your couch while covering up the smell?? I dont think so
NO! and neither does Yahoo! They have a disclaimer at the bottom of the page that Yahoo does not evaluate nor guarantee the accuracy of any statements made here.

There are jerks who deliberately give wrong advice. I don't trust what's said here.

I was just hired by a gas station for the night shift. What advice would you give me?

I've had some jobs where I worked late, but never overnight. I'm hoping to hear from some people who've worked the night shift themselves. Was it easy to maintain your personal life?I was just hired by a gas station for the night shift. What advice would you give me?
It's hard to maintain your personal life a bit because you are working when the majority of people are sleeping and then they are working when you are sleeping! But just try to make time for the people that are important to you. But I will be honest, working the overnight shift is not easy! You really have to work hard at maintaining your personal life while also trying to get necessary sleep to stay healthy. It will take you a while to really get used to it and you should definitely see if it's worth it based on how your life is affected! Good luck!I was just hired by a gas station for the night shift. What advice would you give me?
Well my boyfriend of 4 years got hired for night shift at Lowe's Home Improvement a few months ago. He quit after a month because personal life was too hard to maintain. The only people he could hang out with was the other people that he worked over night with him. I would sleep while hes at work then I would get up and go to work as he was coming through the door and when I got home He'd still be asleep. We'd spend 3 hours max together on a daily basis. He never got to hang out with Friends on days off because when he wanted to hang out everyone was asleep and on the day he worked there wasn't enough time to go anywhere. Hope that helps. Sorry you sound negative.
Gas stations not a bad job, however, you need to watch yourself, people will hang out to see what they can steal when your not watching. You should have a lot to do though, trash, fill coolers, clean floors, stock and dust shelf's, and deal with customers. I'm sure they have a list of thing they want done. Just don't trust people even people you think might be your friends. And for god sake don't let them behind the counter, or handle any of your money. This is your job and you look bad for every thing that can go wrong, NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO HANG OUT THERE. Theft is your problem and you can go to jail if you let anyone take anything without paying.

Several years ago, I started a rubber stamp manufacturing business based out of my home. I did this because I loved to do rubber stamping art projects and rubber stamps were expensive on our budget with 7 kids! The start up supplies were very inexpensive because of the methods we used and we turned out a very high quality product. Soon neighbors heard I could manufacture their own designs, and that spread out to local business. I sent out ONE set of some custom designs to the main Yosemite Nat'l Park gift store. Because of that, I became the largest rubber stamp manufacturer in the USA for a short time. Hubby had heart attacks and I closed! But one person saw our designs and that person worked at a company who need a manufacturer. We NEVER advertised. Our products sold themselves because of the quality and because of our service.
