What's the best business advice you ever received?

That produced tangibly positive results?

Also, what's the worst business advice you ever received? What's the best business advice you ever received?
Best: Stay focused on opportunities.

Worst: People work best when you kick their buttWhat's the best business advice you ever received?
Eventually get their butt kicked IF they consistently perform below their capabilities, that is.

The person alluded to above is a slacker. She'll probably get fired before long.

Treating ppl like responsible adults will motivate them more than ';kicking their butt'; because they want to live up to the expectation Depends on the field and level of work, but I believe professional adults will be demotivated, resentful %26amp; won't perform if they feel controlled.

U show confidence in them, they'll want to make you look good, because they feel good. What's the best/worst advise you got?

Worst advice: Build it and they will come. Doesn't work. I know.

Best advice: Be patient and keep your overhead down. Almost no one is an overnight success.

I'm looking at from a business owner's standpoint.

As an employee, I would advise you to imagine the business is yours and act accordingly.

My best employees act that way and I will do anything for them.

To become a supervisor from a team leader,at the ice cream factory i used to work.At that time i was making more money as a team leader due to over time, but when the supervisors started earning more i was told to apply to a supervisor vacancy, by my manager and i did has proved to be the best decision of my working career.
Best: Pick a vocation that you are good at so you can afford what you enjoy.

Worst: Get a paralegal degree.
Word of mouth advertising is THE BEST way to advertise for most business!

Several years ago, I started a rubber stamp manufacturing business based out of my home. I did this because I loved to do rubber stamping art projects and rubber stamps were expensive on our budget with 7 kids! The start up supplies were very inexpensive because of the methods we used and we turned out a very high quality product. Soon neighbors heard I could manufacture their own designs, and that spread out to local business. I sent out ONE set of some custom designs to the main Yosemite Nat'l Park gift store. Because of that, I became the largest rubber stamp manufacturer in the USA for a short time. Hubby had heart attacks and I closed! But one person saw our designs and that person worked at a company who need a manufacturer. We NEVER advertised. Our products sold themselves because of the quality and because of our service. Cutomer satisfaction can build OR destroy a company.
Best: Service Industry related- When dealing with couples, always make sure the female is satisfied, she usually has the final say, and will be the one calling back for repeat business. Most guys 'just want the wife to be happy so she'll leave me alone'.

Worst: Ignore the IRS documents, it'll go away on its own!
best...Make sure that you run the business and the business doesn't run you.

worst...to trust people
NEVER get high off your own supply.
