Beyond the usual advice everyone gives, how would you suggest getting into a highly selective university?

I am a junior in h.s. with a class rank of 2 of 300 (gpa 4.18). I volunteer regularly, I work, etc. I just don't know what to do to make my application over the top. The school I am most interested in is the University of Chicago.Beyond the usual advice everyone gives, how would you suggest getting into a highly selective university?
Obviously get good grades, it also helps if some of your subjects are more unusual choices.

Your volunteer work will help. Make sure you have a hobby or interest that is particularly interesting and unique.

also, don't sound overly cocky or big headed in your application and don't over exaggerate achievments as you may get caught out and sound like liar and don't point out your bad points.Beyond the usual advice everyone gives, how would you suggest getting into a highly selective university?
