I like reading and am going to order some books.I'd appreciate some good ones because I can't think of any at present.I like all genres apart from fantasy. If you remember an unputdownable book, please tell me the title. . .

Greetings from italy.Could you advice me on some good books?

Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger

Swansong by Robert McCammon

Needful Things by Stephen King

Life Expectancy, Lightning, and Dragon Tears by Dean Koontz

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper LeeCould you advice me on some good books?
I will recommend some modern books to you, no classics as those are the same here as in Italy..

FRANK HERBERT-Dune

JOHN GRISHAM- The runaway jury, The Testament

PATRICIA CORNWELL- The main character of her series is a forensic doctor, Kay Scarpetta ( of Italian origin)... these books are fascinating and as you say unputdownable, but you have to read them chronologically, as Scarpetta's private life is part of the books. Highly recommendable..

good luck and have fun... ciao arrivederci......
i think you should read ';The Book Thief : by Markus Zusak';

it takes place in worldwar 2 time and i remember falling asleep in class because i stayed up all night trying to finish reading the book.
Angelas Ashes,Teacher Man and Tis all by Frank McCourt, this is an excellent set of books by this man, they are his memoirs and a really good read

I'm not sure it has been traslated but I love Boris Vian's books. Raymond Queneau's are great too.

';Short Stories'; Raymond Carver

Toni Morrison

Oscar Wilde ( especially The picture of Dorian Gray)
Do you like nonfiction? ';Ibn al-Haytham: First Scientist'; tells the fascinating, true story of a medieval Muslim scholar who overcame bouts of mental illness to develop the scientific method two hundred years before the Europeans learned of it鈥攂y reading his books. It was just chosen by California Readers to be part of the 2008 California Collection. You can find reviews of the book and a sample chapter at http://www.ibnalhaytham.net/ If you order from that website, the author will sign the book and inscribe it to whomever you wish.
