Caveat: You actually use this piece of writing advice. How did it benefit you?
Someone told me to ';Just start writing, already!'; I know now that if I fret over ';the perfect start,'; I'll never get anywhere else.
So, I got kicked in the butt about it. Here I am thousands of words later, and I'm glad that I just got some words down, sheesh!
How about you? What is the best piece of writing advice that you use?
';Write, just write, it doesn't matter what, cause sooner or later you'll fix it, but first, you have to make mistakes in order to fix them.';What is the best piece of writing advice that you use?
When I'm writing, and I'm trying to make my story work out, or come up with a plot, or whatever, I use my own advice. I call it my cardinal rule of writing: ';If it feels wrong, then it is wrong.'; Normally, I'm really bad at editing my own work, because I'm never sure how a reader would respond, so I just say that if it doesn't feel right when I'm writing it, or when I'm reading it, then I need to redo it. This way, i never settle for my second best.
On an author's website, she gave advice to young aspiring writers. She had a list of eight things to keep in mind. Most of them were all about publishing and never take no for an answer but one of them really stuck out to me. It said that they key to writing is living. Which is true, when you think about it. How could you write when you haven't lived?
writing for a reason, inspiration
Just read and just write.
