I am trying to decide which sorority to join at school but I don't want to join a sorority just because they are the most popular on campus. What advice would you give to a young lady trying to decide which sorority to join at school? ?
The most ';popular'; sorority changes at most schools from year-to-year anyways, so you are making a very smart decision!
If you are attending formal recruitment for NPC sororities, your problem is solved already! Just go through recruitment with an open mind and pick the chapter you feel most comfortable with.
If you are going through informal recruitment or rushing an NPHC, multicultural, or local sorority, try to talk to as many sisters/sorors from as many chapters as possible. Look at their chapter and national websites. Which philanthropies are you most interested in? Does a certain chapter have a certain special event or quality that sounds exciting? Can you see yourself calling the members of this chapter your sisters?
Ask yourself those questions and you'll find your new home.
Good luck! What advice would you give to a young lady trying to decide which sorority to join at school? ?
Talk to some other girls at your school. Ask them about their sorority, what kind of events they do, and what sets them apart from all the other sororities. Joining a sorority is about building relationships and friendships with other girls. If you join a sorority simply because they are popular, you are going to be miserable. It's important for you to find a group of girls that you get along with and that you like.
*Edit- Also, each sorority is going to have an event called rush week. This is when they are actively seeking out girls to be in their sorority. This is a great time to go around to different sororities and see what they are about. This is when they see who is interested in being in their sorority and they choose who they want to be in.
