Thanks! Can you give me advice about pet tortoises?or can you give me a pet which lives long?
I work with turtles and tortoises and I think their fine as long as you don't need a lot of excitement from the pet to keep you interested. Some people get bored of them and then stop caring for them. A interactive long lived pet would be a bird and if you want a gentle one consider a dove (live up to 20 years) while ones like cockatoos live past 80 years old!Can you give me advice about pet tortoises?or can you give me a pet which lives long?
The Blue McCaw Parrot (very beautiful with golden underbelly and bright blue feathers everywhere else ... about 2 -3 feet in length from head to end of tail feathers) is a very good pet and lives about 80-90 years ... they are very intelligent and will talk up a storm once they learn a couple words they just keep learning. On the ';con'; side of this pet it does tend to be a bit noisy and some will become a ';one person'; type pet accepting one person and not being all that friendly to others.
Cats and turtles live the longest out of these animals. I would prefer a cat, since turtles tend to smell and arent very affectionate. A cat can live up to 20 years.
When I was wanting to buy a turtle at a super pet, they said that they dont carry them because of diseases, and that they only carry tortoises.

Now the tortoise that i was looking at was quite expensive, around two hundred dollars, but the turtoises dont carry samonella and they can live up to three hundred years. So if you do think about getting a turtoise make sure you put it in your will :P I actually know people who would do that..
A tortoise can live a very long time. There was one that lived for 175 years. You can learn a lot about them here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortoise
what kind of tortoise? I had a tortoise for many years , I have relatives who kept tortoises for 50-60 yrs. they need proper food, greens mostly, but check on thier specific dietary and vitamin-mineral needs. a dry place to hang out in, safety from dogs and children who may drop them. the occasional checkup. also they are susceptible to swallowing the wrong thing, so keep thier area cleared of small objects. parrots also live long lives, I have had several of mine 25 yrs. so far
well if you are careful and take good care of them crestsd geckos are great but that is if you have alot of time on you hands and about 70 dollars that is how much mine cost i bought it at alamo aquatics in san antonio tx
