What would be the best AFSC to take in your opinion? What's the best advice you could give someone who is planning on joining the Air Force?
I think the best advice I could give is that you tend to get out of the Air Force what you put in.
If I had to do it over again, I would look for an AFSC that played to my strengths and transferred to civilian life. You want to do something that you like and are good at. Eventually, you are going to separate or retire. Some people like to be outside a lot and CE or Aircraft maintenance is right up their alley, some people like working with computers. What's the best advice you could give someone who is planning on joining the Air Force?
It all depends on their ASVAB scores. Supposing they're qualified to take whatever they want, I'd tell them to choose something they really think they will love, and wait for the school to open to take it. You have to do whatever you take for 36 months before you're eligible to retrain, so if you hate it, it can be very unpleasant. I'd also have them look at the civiliain counterparts to their jobs as far as security, pay and advancement go, so their training is useful later. I'd also tell them to make darned sure they completed at least their CCAF Associate's degree while they're in. They're going to need it later.
The best AFSC is the one you both like and have aptitude for.
I liked mine...
Enlisted: Military Intelligence Specialist/Technician (20450/20470)
Commissioned: Psychologist (42P3B) ...actually, I had two AFSCs in this area...primary and secondary.
Good luck with your career.
i would pick a job that you know you will really like and that your good at. you can't quit no matter how much you hate your job.
