You need to get strapping and sheets of plaster board fi b%26amp;q. Measure the size you need. Put the strapping round where you want the ceiling to be and you screw the plaster board wi plaster board screws. You need strapping in the middle as well to hold the ceiling up. \if you measure it all properly and have it the same height it should look gr8tHow can you lower a stairway ceiling, any advice would be a great help thanks?
If you are looking to 'visually' lower the ceiling, then paint it a color of your choice and bring the color down the wall a foot or two and stop there with a straight edge made by using masking tape. Let me know if this is what you meant.

there are 2 ways to drop s stair way ceiling....1 a drop ceiling where channels are secured to the walls....how low you can drop it will depend on if it is an open stairway or not, or 2, fur it all out and then use paperboard ceiling blocks stapled to the furring strips.....have done this before both ways with good results.
