What is the most important piece of advice that you have passed on to your children?

If you have any doubts about a decision that you are trying to make, do not make that decision unless it is a ';time value'; thing that will not be available unless you decide now. Do not rush into things. If it doesn't feel right, even though you can't identify why it doesn't feel right, don't do it. This will keep them from acting rashly and regretting it later.

Also, some things are just out of your control. You have to learn to ';let it go'; and not worry about things that you have no control over.

This is on a different level from don't drink and drive, don't do drugs, and other things that I assume every parent talks about...What is the most important piece of advice that you have passed on to your children?

Be very careful of people you think you can trust, they are the ones you usually can't. This life is amazing, but hard!
You can't expect your father to be there for you.
Your children are watching the way that you treat your mother, so set a good example for them!
