Do you have any advice for buying a car from Craigslist?

I'm looking at one tonight. In particular, how does a person manage to get the car inspected before they buy it? I'd want to know the seller wasn't just taking it to a friend.Do you have any advice for buying a car from Craigslist?
1. If the deal sounds TOO good to be true, it is too good to be true. Alot of scams happen by advertising cars at a super low price. STAY AWAY.

2. Ask for a carfax report- People don't always tell you the truth about cars that have been in accidents

3. Schedule an appointment and have a mechanic look at the car. The paint may be shiny, and the interior may be clean, but if they screwed up on maintenance, the car is going to give you alot of problems.

4. if they say they're going to ship you the car, or its unavaliable to look at, GO AWAY. its a scam!Do you have any advice for buying a car from Craigslist?
Pick out a mechanic on your own and have it taken there. Preferably look in the Yellow Pages and see if you can find one that advertises as a ';Lemon Buster'; or Pre-sale inspection station.
Schedule an appointment with an auto shop and have the seller take it there at your expense. If they want to sell it, they will agree or they are hiding something
