What is the best advice any one has ever given you?

I want to impart some good wisdom on my daughter who is becoming a teen and getting ready to be groomed to go out into the world in a few years.What is the best advice any one has ever given you?
Use your eyes to see the world, assess dangers, see where people are coming from, see both the beauty and the ugliness,

look at things and people for what they are, not what you want them to be. All that stuff about, ';it's impolite to stare'; forget that nonsense, immediately! Look around you, let your eyes drink in every new thing, experience your world with your eyes first, train your eyes to be perceptive, and they will save your life and never let you down. Some children oftentimes don't learn this. Children of the lower economic classes DO, of necessity. A guy

I worked with in the Army, named Arthur Patterson, taught it to this old guy when I was still young. I still reckon it the greatest advice ever given to me. USE YOUR EYES, NO ONE ELSE IS USING THEIR EYES WELL ENOUGH TO EVEN NOTICE! Using your eyes is the secret to being ';wise as a serpent, and gentle as a lamb.'; GLANCE AWAY IF YOU THINK%26lt; THEY THINK YOUR STARING. THEN USE YOUR EYES SOME MORE! I think I said what I wanted. May God lay His protective hand upon you and your daughter. --your friend, UCWhat is the best advice any one has ever given you?

She should learn that you can't expect people to overlook your shortcomings if you're not willing to overlook theirs. Whether they are really shortcomings or not, everyone sees things they don't approve of in other people, that's just a fact. Learn to accept these things as part of the whole makeup of a person, realize that you have things about you that need to be accepted also, and the whole world is a more pleasant place to live.
I received some advice regarding my struggles as a young single mother wondering if I should give up trying to put myself through college.

';The time is going to go by whether you are in school or not, so you may as well be in school even if it's only a class at a time.';

That wonderful woman was right. It took me longer than most, but my MS is the personal accomplishment of which I am most proud.

Re: Child-rearing:

#1 Love your children unconditionally

#2 If you don't want them to do it tomorrow, don't let them do it TODAY!
Children learn what they live
This is what's happening. It cannot be otherwise.

Regard all realities as a dream

A self-disciplined man doing self-disciplined things in a self-disciplined manner will succeed
Be yourself.
Men rule the world. Smart women rule the men.
WHEN YOU HIT BOTTOM - DON'T EXPECT TO GET UP RIGHT AWAY - THERE'S A LOT OF GROUND TO BE COVERED DOWN THERE!!!!
Those who told me to remain calm or take it easy gave me the best advice.
not to mix the grapes and the grain (wine and beer) at a party. Also, after a drink, always take two asprin or tylenol before going to sleep.
Don't feed the bears.
Well the only advice I remember from my childhood is: ';Be careful honey... the world is not so fair as you think...';

My mom and other relatives tell me this advice all the time...

I have to admit that this advice really helped me in my life...

There are other good advices too....like ';The only people that wish you to be good are only your close family';....

hope your daughter to be wise and good person...
understand and learn the smallest things before you jump ahead to the bigger things wich call for difficulty
';Be yourself - and be prepared to forgive others, for being themselves';
My mother, who had 3 girls told us all this: That she gave birth to us, that we were gifts to her from God to raise up and be all we could be. And that therefore once we were ready to leave her home and go into the world, know that it is there for you to shape and do with it as you want with love, understanding and respect for all men/women. That it will only be your (our) perception of your own ability that will keep you from accomplishing all you want, or take you all the way to the stars. Remember, you are free and it is a wonderful world we live in, make your own reality. You can be happy or unhappy, you can cry and whine or you can pick up the pieces and built a castle. You dont need anyones approval, as long as what you do is honest and you remain true to yourself, you have all the know how to live a life to the fullest.
Smile and the world smiles with you. Cry and you get all wet.
The best advice I gave my kids when they left home was

'; This home is still your home..No matter what happens you'll always have a place to call home if it doesn't work out';
My mom told me and I told my daughter that life is just alot of good and bad choices.You need to applaud the good one's and learn from the bad one's,and try not to take the world so seriously.We all are just human and it's in our nature to make mistakes.
it may sound corny but do unto others as you would have them do unto you. and where your treasure lies there your heart will also be
Dont be in a hurry to grow up. Do good in school. When You are done with school, work hard and save Your money.
';Learn your lessons quickly and move on';. All the best to you both.
The best advice my friend given me is ';Love them all';
To thine own Self Be True
Don't forget to stop and smell the roses. Too many people get caught up in the rush of everyday life to experience the little pleasures of life. A sunrise. A baby sleeping. Savor the moment because that is truly living.
becomming a young adult among her peer's is a difficult time. remember to save all that you can of yourself for your future. many young have lost almost all befor they reach the age of consent. value all that you have become. the eye's of the world can steel you away and keep you longer than you want to stay. think wise, be safe keep home close to your heart.
to not get drunk
';Know Thyself'; (%26amp; ';The unexamined life is not worth living';)
Don't have someone make ou do something you don't want to
