This is a totally new behavior. I have seen it no more then 2 or 3 times but I do want to stop it right now. If he is chewing on a bone or if he found something outside like a pinecone he will growl and charge if a dog tries to smell it (he won't bite of fight but his warning is impressive). He doesn't do that to any humans and not to every dogs either, only to certain dogs.Do you have any advice on how to stop possessive aggressiveness?
If he doesn't do it to humans and is only giving a showy display, I wouldn't worry about it. If there are other dogs around, pick up all the bones or high value toys. If it's over a pine cone at the dog park, the other dogs will just walk away and ignore him, and it shouldn't be a problem. It could be a problem if he steals the ball of another dog that also doesn't like to share his stuff, though. If you have any other questions, remember you can always call your trainer who should know how to help you and knows both you and your dog.Do you have any advice on how to stop possessive aggressiveness?
We had a female that did that. The best choice is to take away all bones and toys for a bit. since he does not do it to ALL humans and dogs you still need to stop it no matter how small or large the behaviour is. you should be able to take a bone or toy at any time from your dog with no hesitation. if you do go to grab the toy and he growls pat him on the nose and say in a stern voice 'No!' this just takes training and patience
good luck
