What was the WORST relationship advice that you have ever received?

I don't necessarily mean a joke or a malicious comment (although you can include those if you wish).





I'm looking for well-meaning advice given by someone who sincerely wanted to help that just turned out to be flat-out wrong.

Someone gave me advice saying, it is okay to go after someone even if they have a girlfriend and since he has been flirting with you he will go out with you. When I was in high school as a freshman someone told me that and you can just imagine how that one ended up. Come to find out that next year I ended up dating the guy anyways (dumb thing to do)What was the WORST relationship advice that you have ever received?
I separated from my wife, and my friends all told me that if I loved her I should fight for her and try everything I could to get her back. Well I did, and I ended up pushing her further away, they should have told me to give her some space.
The worst advice is when someone tells you to be yourself. That's a bunch of BS. If being myself was good enough for her, then she would have stayed instead of going after pieces of **** that treat her like garbage.
I was told when I was 15 by my friend to date the gorgeous 20 year old, because he was hot. I ended up losing my virginity too young and being broken hearted after 6 years.
